The School and Mass Education Department of Odisha has clarified that reports of new school closures or mergers circulating in media are completely baseless. Posting on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the department stated that no directive has been issued for closing or merging schools this year. Officials also highlighted that the previous merger of 5,632 schools in 2020–21 was carried out under the state’s rationalization policy to address low enrolment in certain areas. Parts of that policy faced criticism, especially in tribal and remote regions, and were challenged in the Orissa High Court. The department confirmed that any future policy changes will be formally notified and not communicated through media speculation.
Odisha Board Exams 2026: Dates Expected Soon
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Odisha are expected to release official date sheets for the 2026 board exams shortly. Traditionally, board examinations are conducted in February–March each year.
Students and parents are advised to regularly check the official BSE and CHSE websites for updates regarding exam schedules and official notifications.
