Odisha Board Class 10 Exams 2026 Begin, Over 5.61 Lakh Students Appear

The Class 10 final examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE) commenced on February 19, 2026, with more than 5.61 lakh students appearing for the High School Certificate (HSC) papers across 3,082 examination centres in the state. The first paper conducted on the opening day was the Modern Indian Language (Odia) exam, held from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The HSC exams will continue till March 2, 2026, alongside the State Open School (SOS) and Sanskrit Madhyama examinations.

Extensive Security and Anti‑Malpractice Measures

To ensure a smooth and transparent examination process, education authorities have implemented robust arrangements:

  • Advanced AI‑enabled CCTV surveillance from a central control room monitors activities from question‑paper unsealing to exam proceedings.
  • QR codes and watermarks have been introduced in question papers to prevent tampering.
  • A three‑tier squad system and special vigilance teams conduct surprise inspections at various centres
  • Invigilators and staff are barred from using mobile phones during exams to curb malpractice.

Students were allowed to carry only essential items such as admit cards, pens, pencils and geometry boxes; other belongings are not permitted inside exam halls.

Supportive Arrangements and Accessibility

The Board has also made provisions for differently‑abled students, who are eligible for extra time and assistance. Dedicated helpers are assigned to support those requiring writing help. A total of 322 nodal centres were established across Odisha for secure distribution of confidential exam materials to the examination centres ahead of the exams.

Chief Minister’s Message to Students

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his best wishes to the students. In a social‑media message, he encouraged students to remain calm and confident, emphasising that the exam reflects their perseverance and hard work. He advised students not to let stress overwhelm their preparation and to approach the exams with positivity and focus.

Exam Schedule and Next Steps

The Odisha HSC board exams 2026 will continue in various subjects until March 2, 2026, covering the full Class 10 curriculum under strict monitoring. Students are advised to follow all exam guidelines and arrive at the centres well ahead of time — typically well before the 9:00 AM start.
