The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new guidelines for exam centre allocation for upcoming national-level entrance exams, including JEE Main, NEET UG, and CUET UG from 2026. Candidates will now have their exam centres assigned based on the residential address in their Aadhar Card, rather than choosing preferred cities.
NTA Exam Centre Guidelines 2026
As per reports, the new rule aims to enhance transparency and curb impersonation in the examination process. Candidates from smaller towns and villages will be allotted exam centres in or near their residential area, as per the Aadhar-linked address. Students are advised to ensure their Aadhar details are accurate, as the exam centre allocation will strictly follow this information. An official notification regarding the same is expected to be released soon on the NTA website.
Changes Applicable from JEE Main 2026
The new rule regarding exam city selection is expected to take effect from JEE Main 2026, which will be conducted in January and April 2026. Students must verify and update their Aadhar cards in advance, as no corrections will be allowed once the application window opens.
Stricter Verification Process for Candidates
Reports indicate that the NTA will implement a stringent document verification process for applicants. The name, date of birth, and other details on the Aadhar card must match the information in Class 10 marksheets. Even minor spelling errors or mismatches may lead to rejection of the application form. Candidates are advised to check all personal details carefully to avoid discrepancies.
Students preparing for JEE Main, NEET UG, and CUET UG 2026 should regularly check the official NTA website for final confirmation and updates regarding the new exam centre allocation rules.
