The Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of Delhi, has announced the NMMSS 2026 examination schedule for Class 8 students. The NMMSS 2026 exam date is December 5, 2026, while the application process started on September 9 and will remain open till October 5. Eligible students will have to register through their respective schools.

The National Means-Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is aimed at providing financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker families and encouraging them to continue their education after Class 8.

NMMSS 2026 Exam Date and Application Deadline

Students preparing for the NMMSS 2026 scholarship exam should note the important dates given below. The application is not submitted individually by students; schools will complete the registration process on behalf of eligible candidates.

NMMSS 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The NMMSS 2026 eligibility criteria require students to be studying in Class 8 in government, government-aided or local body schools under the Government of NCT of Delhi.

General and OBC category students must have secured at least 55% marks in Class 7 during the 2025-26 academic session. The minimum qualifying percentage for SC, ST and PH category students is 50%.

The annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh. Selected candidates will also have to submit a valid income certificate issued by an SDM or Tehsildar.

NMMSS 2026 Scholarship Amount

Under the NMMSS scholarship 2026, selected students receive financial assistance from Class 9 to Class 12, subject to the applicable scheme conditions.

The scholarship amount is Rs 1,000 per month, which comes to Rs 12,000 per year. The scholarship may continue up to Class 12 if students continue to fulfil the prescribed conditions.

NMMSS 2026 Exam Pattern

The NMMSS 2026 exam pattern consists of two papers — the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

Each paper will contain 90 questions carrying 90 marks, with a duration of 90 minutes. General and OBC candidates need to secure at least 40% marks in both MAT and SAT, while SC, ST and PH candidates need at least 32% marks in each paper.

How to Apply for NMMSS 2026

Students cannot directly submit the NMMSS 2026 application form themselves. The registration will be completed by the schools for eligible candidates.

1. School Heads can visit the official Delhi Directorate of Education website, edudel.nic.in.
2. Log in using the school's login ID and password.
3. Register eligible Class 8 students for the NMMSS 2026 examination.
4. Ensure that the candidate details match the Aadhaar-linked information.
5. Verify the student's name, date of birth and father's name before submitting the application.

The Directorate of Education will generate roll numbers and allot examination centres by November 25, 2026.

NMMSS 2026 Admit Card and Exam Date

The NMMSS 2026 admit card will be downloaded and printed by the Head of School after roll numbers and examination centres are allotted. Students will have to paste their photograph on the admit card and get it attested.

Schools have been instructed to provide two copies of the admit card to each student on or before December 4, 2026. The NMMSS 2026 examination will be conducted on December 5.
