National Medical Commission is set to a major medical seats. The NMC Chief, Dr Abhijat Sheth, said that the medical seats in India are expected to be increased by 8,000 by next year. The present statistics of the undergraduate medical seats are about 1,18,098, whereas the postgraduate seats are about 53,960. The more descriptive breakdown of these seats based on the private and government colleges is as follows:
CBI has shown its concern about the cut of the seats from the total available medical seats. This concern has been raised after the exposure of Alleged Nexus. Due to this, NMC holds its decision on the approval of the new medical seats in the existing institutions. In continuation, the NMC Chief stated that due to the ongoing legal process with the CBI, the number of seats available under the undergraduate courses has been reduced. But still, the NMC is expecting to increase the medical seats by 8,000.
The NEET Counselling process is going on across India. The authority is on its verge of the NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Counselling, and soon the authority will start the NEET UG 2025 Counselling Round 2.
Whereas the NEET PG 2025 Counselling is expected to begin in the month of September.
