The National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for medical colleges to submit online MBBS admission details for the 2025-26 academic year. Institutions across India must now complete the submission of student information by 31 January 2026 (midnight).
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially extended the deadline for medical colleges to enter and submit the details of first-year MBBS admissions for the 2025-26 academic session on its online portal. This decision provides an additional opportunity for institutions to ensure complete and accurate admission data
Revised Deadline for MBBS Admission Data Submission
As per the latest circular issued by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), all medical colleges and institutions across India are now required to upload the details of admitted MBBS students by 31 January 2026 (midnight). The extension applies to information submitted through the official NMC online portal. This revised deadline aims to address delays and incomplete submissions noted by the commission from several institutions. Colleges were observed to have either not submitted or partially filled required information before the earlier deadline, prompting the extension.
Purpose of the Extension
The extension is intended to help medical colleges comply with regulatory requirements and ensure transparency in the MBBS admission process for the ongoing academic year. Accurate and timely submission of student data is mandatory under existing norms, including provisions in the Criteria for Identification of Students Admitted in Excess of Admission Capacity of Medical College Regulations, 1997 and related directions of the Supreme Court of India. The commission’s directive emphasises that this extended period should be treated as the last opportunity for institutions to upload complete admission details for first-year MBBS students admitted in 2025-26
Instructions for Medical Colleges
Medical colleges are required to log in to the official NMC online portal and ensure that all student admission data, including student names, NEET UG registration details, and other mandatory fields, are correctly entered and verified. Institutions must navigate the portal carefully and rectify any incomplete entries before the deadline to avoid regulatory action. The NMC has urged colleges to review all details and complete submissions by the revised timeline.
Importance of Compliance
Complete and accurate reporting of MBBS admission data helps the commission maintain a centralised and transparent database of medical admissions across the country. It also supports compliance with admission norms, seat monitoring, and regulatory oversight. Medical colleges are advised to treat this extended deadline as final and complete all formalities before midnight on 31 January 2026 to ensure compliance with NMC requirement
