Eligibility Criteria for NIFT Entrance Exam 2026
To appear for the NIFT Entrance Exam 2026, candidates must meet the required academic and age criteria. (Course-wise variations apply.)
- For UG programs (B.Des, B.F.Tech): Must have passed or be appearing in 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board.
- For PG programs (M.Des, M.F.Tech, M.F.M): Must have a recognised bachelor’s degree.
- Age limit: For B.Des/B.F.Tech, typically below 24 years as of a specified date (subject to category relaxation) for some programmes.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 Application Process
The application process will be conducted online through the official website of NIFT (and/or the National Testing Agency (NTA) portal). Candidates can follow these steps:
- Visit the official website:nift.ac.in/admission and/orexams.nta.ac.in/NIFT.
- Click on “Apply for NIFT Entrance Exam 2026”.
- Register with basic details (such as Aadhaar number, email, and mobile) and create login credentials.
- Fill out the application form with accurate personal, academic and contact details. Also select the exam centre.
- Upload required documents (photograph, signature) in the prescribed format.
- Pay the application fee and submit the form.
NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 Exam Pattern
The exam for the 2026 session will be held in stages for different programs:
- Stage 1: Written Examination: Comprises the General Ability Test (GAT) for all programs, and the Creative Ability Test (CAT) for B.Des and M.Des.
- Stage 2: Situation Test / Personal Interview:
- For B.Des: A Situation Test (3-D model making, etc).
- For PG programs: Personal Interview / GD & PI depending on the course.
- Duration, marking scheme and subject-wise breakup are published in the detailed notification. For example, written exams tend to be around 2-3 hours.
NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 Result and Counselling
- After Stage 1 (written exam), result will be declared (tentatively April 2026). Shortlisted candidates will proceed to Stage 2.
- Final result (after Situation Test / PI) will likely be announced by June 2026.
- Qualified candidates will participate in counselling / seat allotment for admission into NIFT’s participating institutes across the country.
