NHAI Recruitment 2025: Last Date Extended to September 25 Amid Court

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended the application deadline for the recruitment of legal professionals. Originally scheduled to close on September 10, the application process will now remain open until September 25, 2025. The extension comes after the Delhi High Court began reviewing a petition challenging the use of CLAT PG scores in the selection process.

NHAI Recruitment 2025 Extended Deadline Details

NHAI has invited applications for 44 Young Professional (Legal) positions. Applicants with a law degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply. Earlier, the recruitment criteria included CLAT PG scores, which has now become a matter of legal dispute. The official notification stated that candidates can continue to submit their applications through the NHAI career portal (nhai.gov.in) until the revised deadline of September 25, 2025.

Petition Against CLAT PG-Based Selection

The petition was filed by advocate Shannu Bahgel, who argued that CLAT PG scores are designed for admission to postgraduate law programmes, not for government recruitment. The plea further highlighted that restricting eligibility to candidates who appeared in CLAT 2022 unfairly excludes several law graduates and practising advocates. The petitioner termed the use of CLAT scores as arbitrary and unrelated to the actual responsibilities of the advertised posts, which primarily involve providing legal services.

Delhi High Court Proceedings

The matter was heard by a bench comprising Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela. During the hearing, NHAI informed the court that it may reconsider its position on the use of CLAT PG scores for shortlisting candidates. The High Court has scheduled the next hearing for September 18, 2025, where a decision will be taken on whether CLAT PG scores can be used as a basis for recruitment.

Application Process Continues

Despite the legal proceedings, NHAI has clarified that the application process will remain open. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can apply until September 25, 2025, by visiting the official website.
