New School of Global Leadership, What Will It Offer Students?

Bharatiya Engineering Science and Technology Innovation University (BESTIU), in collaboration with India Foundation, has launched the School of Global Leadership (SoGL) to strengthen leadership education aligned with global governance and policy challenges. The launch also marked the announcement of a 1 year full time Post Graduate Programme in Global Leadership (PGP-GL). The initiative aims to develop leadership capabilities rooted in ethics, institutional design, and real-world decision-making, addressing gaps in conventional leadership education models.

School of Global Leadership Focuses on Governance and Policy Education

The School of Global Leadership at BESTIU has been established to respond to the evolving demands of leadership in a multipolar and interconnected global environment. The curriculum integrates governance, public policy, strategy, innovation, and ethics, supported by experiential learning and structured mentorship. The programme design places emphasis on applying academic frameworks to live institutional and policy challenges. This approach is intended to help participants understand systemic complexities and translate ideas into actionable leadership outcomes. Addressing the launch, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan stated that leadership education must go beyond theoretical tools and focus on preparing individuals for uncertainty, institutional complexity, and ethical responsibility. He highlighted that SoGL treats leadership as both an academic discipline and a practical skillset grounded in systems thinking.

UGC-Recognised BESTIU Partners With India Foundation

The School of Global Leadership has been established by BESTIU, a UGC-recognised university, with India Foundation serving as the knowledge partner. According to SoGL Chair Jayant Sinha, the school draws on India’s developmental experience while engaging with global leadership discourse. The institution aims to contribute to leadership thought by leveraging insights from societies managing scale, diversity, and rapid transformation. This foundation is expected to shape leaders capable of addressing institutional and governance challenges across sectors.

PGP in Global Leadership Offers Multi-Continent Academic Exposure

Alongside the launch of SoGL, the university announced the PGP in Global Leadership, a 1 year full time programme designed as a multi-continent academic experience. The programme combines classroom instruction with applied learning through international residencies. Before reviewing key highlights, it is important to note that the programme structure emphasizes both global exposure and practical engagement with policy and leadership environments.

  • International residencies across India, China, United Arab Emirates, United States, Italy, Belgium, and Netherlands
  • Engagement with global academic collaborators and senior practitioners
  • Focus on leadership, governance, strategy, and ethical decision-making

The programme is intended for individuals seeking leadership roles in public policy, global institutions, and strategic organisations.
