The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will conduct the NEET SS 2025 examination on the scheduled dates — December 27 and 28, 2025. The Supreme Court of India has dismissed petitions filed by aspirants seeking a postponement of the Super Specialty entrance exam due to overlapping university examinations. A bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice George Maish heard the case and ruled that the Court cannot interfere in examination scheduling, as it falls under policy decisions of the authorities concerned.
Supreme Court Upholds NEET SS 2025 Exam Schedule
Medical postgraduates had approached the Supreme Court citing a clash between NEET SS 2025 and final-year MD/MS/DNB exams conducted by various medical universities. However, the Court maintained that rescheduling national-level examinations could disrupt the academic calendar and create inconsistencies for thousands of candidates. The bench observed that “the scheduling of the examination is an administrative decision of the examining body” and should not be altered by judicial intervention. The judgment effectively confirms the NEET SS 2025 dates as final, ending speculation about any delay. The NBEMS had earlier revised the exam dates from November 7–8, 2025, to December 27–28, 2025, after internal deliberations to prevent conflicts with other medical exams. However, no further rescheduling will be considered following the Supreme Court’s decision.

However, the Court emphasized the importance of adhering to a fixed academic calendar to avoid delays in the admission process for Super Specialty programs. The ruling ensures that the NEET SS 2025 counselling and admissions will proceed as per schedule.
