NEET PG Counselling 2025: MCC Withdraws 28 Seats From Round 3 Matrix

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a notice announcing the withdrawal of 28 postgraduate medical seats from the Round 3 seat matrix of NEET PG Counselling 2025. The revision comes ahead of the Round 3 seat allotment processing, which is scheduled between 27 January and 28 January 2026

Revised Seat Matrix: Seat Withdrawals Explained

According to the MCC notification, the committee received requests from certain medical colleges to remove specific seats from the Round 3 seat matrix. As a result, the withdrawn seats will no longer be available for allocation in the upcoming counselling round. The seats were withdrawn across multiple specialities and categories from the following institutions:

  • Government Medical College, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh – 8 seats
  • Government Medical College, Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh – 14 seats
  • Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences, Nalanda, Bihar – 6 seats

In total, 28 seats have been removed from the NEET PG Round 3 seat matrix.

Why Seats Are Withdrawn?

The MCC has stated that the withdrawals were made following information received from the respective colleges. These changes were implemented before the commencement of the Round 3 counselling process, allowing candidates to make informed decisions while filling their choices. Candidates participating in the Round 3 counselling should carefully review the revised seat matrix on the official MCC portal to ensure that they are selecting from the updated list of available seats.

NEET PG Round 3 Counselling Process

NEET PG counselling for the 2025 academic year is being conducted by the MCC for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, including central institutes and deemed universities, as well as seats under various quotas. The counselling includes multiple rounds such as Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and stray vacancy rounds based on seat availability and candidate preferences. Candidates registered for Round 3 must fill and lock their choices according to the revised matrix prior to the seat processing dates. Officials advise aspirants to verify seat availability and category eligibility before finalising their preferences.

What Candidates Should Know?

The latest change in the seat matrix follows earlier MCC revisions and withdrawals made in previous counselling stages. Such revisions aim to reflect the current real-time availability of seats across institutions, ensuring transparency in the counselling process. Participants in the NEET PG counselling should regularly check the official MCC website for updated notifications, the revised seat matrix PDF, and further instructions related to choice filling, seat allotment results, and document verification processes.
