NEET PG 2025 Round 2 Choice Filling Extended Till 12 Dec, 2025

The Medical Counselling Committee has officially extended the NEET PG 2025 Round 2 choice filling and locking last date to 12 Dec 2025. Candidates who have completed NEET PG 2025 counselling registration for Round 2 can now submit and lock their preferences through the official counselling portal. The extension comes after a major revision in the NEET PG seat matrix 2025, giving aspirants access to a higher number of available seats. The choice filling and locking facility remains active in online mode, and eligible candidates must ensure that all preferences are saved and locked before the revised deadline. Failure to lock choices will result in automatic locking based on last saved preferences.

NEET PG 2025 Round 2 Extension Reason and Revised Seat Matrix

The extension of the NEET PG 2025 Round 2 choice filling date has been implemented following significant modifications in the seat availability. According to the updated counselling data released by the authorities, 2620 new postgraduate medical seats have been added to Round 2. With this revision, the total number of seats for Round 2 allotment now stands at 32080, which includes:

• 17623 clear vacancies
• 11837 virtual vacancies
• 2620 newly added PG medical seats

This sudden increase in available seats prompted the committee to provide additional time so that candidates can reassess their preferences and make data-backed decisions for medical PG admissions 2025.

What Happens After NEET PG 2025 Round 2 Choice Locking?

Once the choice locking window closes on 12 Dec 2025, no further modifications will be permitted. The NEET PG 2025 Round 2 seat allotment result will be prepared based on choice priority, rank, reservation policy, and seat availability. Shortlisted candidates will be required to report to the allotted medical colleges for document verification and admission confirmation within the stipulated timeline announced by MCC. The revised counselling schedule has provided a major opportunity for candidates who were earlier restricted due to limited seat options. The addition of over 2600 new seats is expected to improve overall admission chances across multiple medical specialisations.
