NEET PG 2025 Counselling: Seat Resignation Allowed Till 15 January

The Medical Counselling Committee has allowed candidates to resign their NEET PG 2025 counselling seats allotted in round 1 and round 2. The resignation facility is available till 15 January 2026, with forfeiture of the security deposit.

MCC Allows Seat Resignation Ahead of Round 3

Medical Counselling Committee has issued an official notification permitting candidates to surrender seats allotted in the first two rounds of NEET PG 2025 counselling. The decision comes at a time when aspirants are awaiting the revised schedule for round 3 counselling. The resignation window was opened on 12 January 2026 at 5:00 PM. Once candidates resign their seats, the vacated positions will be added to the round 3 seat matrix for fresh allotment.

Security Deposit Forfeiture Applicable

According to the official notification, candidates opting to resign their seats will have to forfeit the security deposit submitted during counselling. The facility has been provided after repeated requests from candidates seeking flexibility ahead of the next counselling round. The authority stated that the decision was taken “in the larger interest of candidates” to allow movement in the seat allocation process.

Physical Reporting Mandatory for Resignation

Candidates must note that resignation is not fully online. To complete the process, students are required to physically report to the allotted medical college. The resignation letter must be generated online by the respective college through the official counselling portal. Only after completion of this process will the seat be considered officially vacated.

NEET PG 2025 Counselling Round 3 Dates Expected Soon

MCC is expected to release the revised schedule for NEET PG 2025 counselling round 3 shortly. Before announcing the dates, the committee is likely to publish the updated seat matrix and revised cutoff percentile. Earlier, MCC had indicated that the cutoff for NEET PG 2025 may be reduced to make more candidates eligible for seat allotment. Registration for round 3 counselling is expected to begin in the third week of January 2026. Candidates are advised to keep checking the official MCC website regularly for updates related to counselling dates, seat matrix, and cutoff revisions.
