NEET PG 2025 counselling schedule has been released by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for admissions under All India Quota and state quota seats. Along with the counselling timeline, the commission has also notified the final seat position for postgraduate broad speciality courses for the academic year 2025–26.
The schedule has been issued through a public notice by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB). Counselling for NEET PG 2025 is being conducted in multiple rounds to ensure smooth admission across medical colleges in the country.
NEET PG 2025 Counselling Rounds and Timeline
NEET PG counselling for the 2025 academic session is being conducted in four rounds for both AIQ and state quota seats. These include round 1, round 2, round 3, and the stray vacancy round.
As per the notified schedule, round 1 counselling was conducted between October and November 2025. This was followed by round 2 counselling in December 2025. The round 3 counselling process will continue till January 2026, after which the stray vacancy round will be completed by the end of January 2026.
The last date for joining allotted seats under all counselling rounds is January 31, 2026. The academic session for postgraduate medical courses has already commenced from December 22, 2025. The NMC has also clarified that Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted holidays will be treated as working days to ensure timely completion of the counselling process.
Instructions for State Quota NEET PG Counselling Authorities
State counselling authorities have been directed to strictly follow the counselling schedule issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This measure has been taken to maintain uniformity across AIQ and state quota counselling and to avoid any overlap between rounds.
Deviation from the prescribed schedule may lead to administrative issues and delay in admissions, which the commission aims to prevent.
NEET PG 2025 Final Seat Matrix for PG Courses
Alongside the counselling schedule, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has released the final seat matrix for postgraduate broad speciality courses.
The seat matrix reflects the number of PG seats available across medical colleges and institutions as on December 8, 2025. It includes all seats approved on or before that date under the regulatory framework of the NMC.
Verification of NEET PG Seat Details by Medical Colleges
Medical colleges and institutions have been instructed to verify the seat details published against their names. Any discrepancy in the seat matrix must be reported to the MARB within 15 days of the notice.
The NMC has warned that failure to report discrepancies within the stipulated timeline may affect the updating of student admission details on the NMC admission portal.
