NEET PG 2025 Candidates Cannot Change Caste Category After Results

The Karnataka High Court has ruled that NEET PG 2025 candidates cannot change their caste category after the declaration of results. A division bench comprising Justices D K Singh and Venkatesh Naik dismissed a plea by a doctor seeking permission to change her category from General to OBC post-results.

The court stated that once a candidate submits the NEET PG application under a specific category, they must use the correction window provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to make any changes. Failing to correct the category during this period means that candidates are not entitled to change their category after the results are announced.

Court Observation on NEET PG 2025 Category Change

The bench noted:

"Once a candidate has filled up his/her form for NEET-UG/PG belonging to a particular category and fails to correct the application form during the period provided by NTA, a candidate, after declaration of the result, would not be entitled to change his/her category. We find no substance in this writ petition and accordingly dismiss it, however without costs."

This judgment reinforces the importance of accurate information during NEET PG 2025 application submission. Candidates must carefully verify personal and category details before the correction window closes to avoid future complications in counselling or admissions.

Implications for NEET PG 2025 Candidates

  • Candidates cannot request category changes after result declaration.
  • All corrections must be done within the NTA-provided window.
  • Errors in category information may impact reservation benefits and counselling eligibility.
  • Aspirants must ensure all application details are accurate before submission.

The Karnataka HC ruling provides clarity for NEET PG 2025 candidates and sets a precedent for handling post-result category change requests. Candidates are advised to strictly follow NTA guidelines during application and correction periods to secure eligibility for counselling and admissions.
