NECO Computer-Based Exams 2026: WAEC, NECO to Fully Adopt CBT

The NECO Computer-Based Exams 2026 transition has been officially confirmed by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of a nationwide examination reform aimed at reducing malpractice and modernising public examinations. According to recent updates, both the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will fully adopt Computer-Based Testing (CBT) by the 2026 examination cycle.

Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa stated that objective papers will begin transitioning to CBT from November 2025, while both objective and essay papers are expected to become fully computer-based by May–June 2026.
