The National University Masters Final Year (Last Part) examination for the 2023 session is expected to be postponed and held only after Eid-ul-Fitr next year. A senior official from the National University Controller of Examinations office shared the update on Sunday, indicating that several factors have made an early exam schedule impossible. The official explained that the form fill-up process for the Masters Final examination has not yet been completed. Under usual circumstances, the National University conducts major examinations three months after the completion of form fill-up. However, the timeline is now affected by multiple national and academic developments.
Election, Ramadan, and Invigilation Issues Behind Delay
According to the university official, the national election scheduled for February will significantly limit the exam window. With a large number of teachers and staff assigned for election duties, the University would not be able to conduct the Masters examination during this period. Immediately after the national polls, Ramadan is expected to begin. The National University has historically avoided scheduling major examinations during Ramadan because many teachers performing invigilation duties observe fasting. This often leads to administrative and logistical challenges in maintaining exam centres. Considering these overlapping events, the University now sees no possibility of conducting the Masters Final examination before Eid-ul-Fitr. As a result, academic discussions within the University have shifted toward organising the exam right after the Eid holidays.
Impact on Admissions for Masters Programme
The National University has already published the 4th Year Honours examination results. However, despite the result announcement, the University clarified that the admission process for the Masters programme cannot begin until the Masters Final examination is completed. This means newly graduated Honours students will have to wait longer for the next phase of their academic admissions cycle. University officials mentioned that while the delay is unavoidable, efforts are being made to ensure that the examination and admissions schedules do not overlap with other major academic activities later in the year.
In-Course Examination Schedule Already Released
Earlier, the National University issued a notification signed by Controller of Examinations Md Enamul Karim regarding the in-course examination dates for the 2023 Masters Last Part.
The schedule is as follows:
- First in-course examination: September 24 to October 15, 2025
- Second in-course examination: November 18 to December 11, 2025
These internal assessments will continue as planned, even though the final examination timeline remains uncertain.
Students Await Official Notice
While the University has not yet issued an official circular announcing the postponement, the internal communication shared with academic units strongly indicates that the final decision is nearing completion. Students are advised to follow official university channels for the confirmed schedule of the Masters Final examination. As the academic community prepares for the upcoming months of administrative transitions, the National University is prioritising a schedule that avoids disruption while ensuring that the examination process remains smooth and fair.
