  • Around 574 service entry rules to be revised
  • Recruitment process to be more transparent and standardised

The reforms align with the state’s broader administrative restructuring plans.

Expansion of Combined MPSC Exams and Opportunities

  • Number of services/cadres under exams to increase to 102
  • Fewer separate exams, more unified recruitment
  • Increased job opportunities for candidates

This step is expected to simplify the exam process and reduce duplication across departments.

A major highlight of the reform is the shift towards merit-based selection. The government aims to reduce subjectivity in recruitment.

  • No interview policy for non-gazetted posts
  • Selection based purely on written examination
  • Experience requirement removed for many posts

These changes will allow fresh graduates to apply for more positions and ensure fair evaluation.

MPSC Introduction of New Cadres and Modern Roles

The reforms also focus on updating job roles in line with modern requirements.Outdated positions will be phased out while new roles are introduced.

  • Creation of AI and technology-related jobs
  • Classification into administrative and technical cadres
  • Removal of obsolete or “dying” posts

This ensures that recruitment remains aligned with current industry and governance needs.

MPSC Digital Initiatives: DigiLocker and Nipun Setu

To further simplify the recruitment process, digital initiatives have been introduced. These measures aim to improve efficiency and transparency.

  • DigiLocker integration for document verification
  • Nipun Setu programme to support non-selected candidates
  • Reduced paperwork and faster processing

These steps will help streamline the entire recruitment lifecycle.

What This Means for MPSC Aspirants?

The MPSC 2026 reforms are expected to significantly improve the recruitment landscape in Maharashtra. Candidates will benefit from simplified rules, increased vacancies, and a more transparent selection process. With more services, fewer exams, and fairer evaluation methods, the new system is likely to enhance accessibility and efficiency for aspirants preparing for MPSC examinations.
