MP Board Exam Pattern 2027: Classes 9 to 12 Pattern Changed, Check New Internal Choice Rules

The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has revised the MP Board exam pattern for Classes 9 to 12 from the 2026–27 academic session. Under the updated rules, internal choice will no longer be available in two-mark very short-answer questions in main subjects. However, students will continue to get internal choices in three-mark and four-mark questions.

The board has also introduced internal choice in five-mark and seven-mark questions for subjects covered under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). The changes were announced in a notification dated October 15, 2026, and will apply to examinations conducted during the 2026–27 academic session, including the MP Board Class 10 and Class 12 exams in 2027.

MP Board Exam Pattern 2027 What Has Changed?

The revised MP Board question paper pattern specifies which questions will include internal choices. The changes differ for main subjects and NSQF subjects, so students should understand the rules applicable to their courses.

MP Board Class 9 to 12 Exams 2027 Internal Choice Rules

For main subjects, students in Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 will have to answer two-mark questions without choosing between alternative questions. The internal choice facility will remain available for three-mark short-answer and four-mark long-answer questions.

For students studying NSQF subjects, the board has introduced internal choices in five-mark long-answer questions and seven-mark essay-type questions. Students should refer to the question paper pattern and subject-wise instructions applicable to their examinations.

The revised rules apply from the 2026–27 academic session. Students preparing for the MP Board Class 10 and Class 12 exams in 2027 should therefore review the updated question paper structure while planning their preparation.
