Maharashtra CET Cell is planning to conduct the first attempt of MHT CET 2027 between December 2026 and January 2027, replacing the usual April-May schedule.
The State Common Entrance Test Cell Maharashtra is planning a major change in the examination calendar for MHT CET 2027. As per reports, the first attempt of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) could be conducted between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027, instead of the traditional April-May schedule.
The proposed change was revealed by Maharashtra CET Commissioner Dileep Sardesai, who said the move is aimed at aligning the state-level entrance examination with national-level exams such as JEE Main. Currently, MHT CET exams for engineering, pharmacy and agriculture courses are held during April and May. However, beginning with the 2027 admission cycle, students may have to prepare much earlier due to the revised timeline. Reports suggest that the second attempt may continue later in the academic session under the two-attempt format introduced recently.
Why Maharashtra CET Cell Wants Earlier Exams?
According to officials, many students complete a major portion of their syllabus by December. Conducting the first attempt earlier could help candidates align their preparation with JEE Main and other national entrance examinations. The CET Cell had earlier introduced a two-attempt system for MHT CET 2026, allowing candidates to appear in one or both sessions while considering the better score for admissions.
MHT CET 2027 Proposed Timeline
Impact on Students
If implemented, the revised schedule will significantly shorten preparation time for students currently studying in Class 11. Candidates may have to balance:
- Board practical examinations
- Pre-board tests
- JEE Main preparation
- MHT CET preparation
Education experts believe the change could make Maharashtra’s admission process more synchronized with national engineering entrance exams. However, students may also face increased academic pressure due to multiple examinations being conducted within a short period.
Official Confirmation Awaited
While the proposal has been discussed publicly by CET Cell officials, the detailed notification and final examination calendar for MHT CET 2027 are yet to be released officially on Maharashtra CET Cell Official Website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official portal for updates regarding registration dates, exam schedule and syllabus changes.
