The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell has confirmed that the MHT CET 2026 exam will be conducted twice a year starting from the academic session 2026-27. Both attempts will be held between March and May 2026, offering candidates a greater opportunity to improve their scores.
MHT CET 2026 Exam Schedule and Structure
According to the Higher and Technical Education Department, candidates will be allowed to appear in one or both sessions as per their preference. The new system is designed to reduce exam pressure and provide flexibility similar to national-level entrance tests like JEE Main. For engineering and pharmacy courses, both attempts will be conducted between March and May 2026. Likewise, the MBA/MMS entrance exams under the Maharashtra CET Cell will also adopt the same biannual schedule.
Future Plans and Implementation
For the academic session 2027-28, the CET Cell plans to further refine the calendar by spacing both attempts over a longer duration. This approach mirrors the testing structure of JEE Main, ensuring students have sufficient preparation time between attempts. While the detailed schedule and exam guidelines are yet to be published, the official notification for both MHT CET 2026 and MAH MBA CET 2026 is expected to be released in December 2025. The application forms will open alongside the official announcement.

Every year, nearly 6 lakh candidates appear for the MHT CET engineering and pharmacy exams, while about 1 lakh students take part in the MBA/MMS entrance. With two attempts now available, students will have an opportunity to improve their performance without waiting another year. This change is also expected to reduce exam-related stress, as candidates who underperform in the first attempt can reappear with better preparation in the second.
