MHT CET 2026 to Be Held Only Within Maharashtra; Outside Centres Scrapped

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra has confirmed that the MHT CET 2026 entrance exam will be conducted only within the state of Maharashtra, and all exam centre options located outside the state have been discontinued for this year’s test. According to the announcement, candidates registering for the exam will now see only Maharashtra-based exam centres while choosing their preferred test location. This decision has been taken by the state authorities to strengthen the security and integrity of the entrance examination process, following concerns about irregularities at some out-of-state centres in past years.

 

Registration and Last Dates

The MHT CET 2026 registration process is currently underway at the official portal cetcell.mahacet.org. The last date to apply for the examination is 12 February 2026, with the final date for fee payment set as 13 February 2026. Irrespective of their domicile status, all registered candidates who wish to appear for the MHT CET 2026 exam must now travel to Maharashtra to take the test, as no exam centre options will be listed outside the state this year.

 

Exam Purpose and Dates

The MHT CET 2026 serves as the state-level entrance test for admission into various undergraduate professional courses including engineering, pharmacy, agriculture and related fields. For the current cycle, the session 1 dates for the PCM group are 11–19 April 2026, and for the PCB group, they are 21–26 April 2026. The session 2 exam dates are 10–11 May 2026 for PCB and 14–17 May 2026 for PCM candidates Candidates are advised to choose their exam centre within Maharashtra at the time of registration and make necessary travel arrangements if they are from outside the state.
