The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the NEET UG 2025 Special Stray Vacancy Round seat matrix by withdrawing one MBBS seat from the All India Quota. The revision has been announced through an official notice and applies to the ongoing undergraduate medical counselling process for the 2025–2026 academic session. According to the notification, the removed seat belonged to the OP No category under the All India Quota (AIQ). MCC confirmed that the change was made following communication received from Government Medical College, Manjeri, located in the Malappuram district of Kerala. The committee clarified that only one MBBS seat has been withdrawn and no other seats have been affected at this stage.
MCC Clarifies Reason Behind Seat Removal
The decision to revise the NEET UG 2025 Special Stray Round seat matrix was taken to ensure accuracy and transparency in the counselling process. MCC stated that updates provided by participating medical institutions are reviewed continuously, and necessary corrections are implemented before allotment to prevent discrepancies. The withdrawn MBBS seat will be deleted from the seat matrix before the allotment process begins, ensuring that candidates do not see or select the seat during choice filling. As a result, this particular seat will not be considered for allotment under the Special Stray Vacancy Round.
What Candidates Need to Know?
Candidates participating in the NEET UG 2025 Special Stray Vacancy Round have been advised to carefully review the revised seat matrix before proceeding further in the counselling process. MCC has reiterated that seat availability can change based on confirmations or revisions received from medical colleges. Applicants must rely only on the updated seat matrix published for the Special Stray Round while making admission-related decisions. Any assumptions based on earlier seat data may lead to confusion during allotment.
