The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) confirmed that eligible candidates can now resign from their allotted seats within the revised timeline. The extended window applies to candidates allotted seats in NEET PG 2025 Round 1 and Round 2 counselling and is subject to specific conditions laid down by MCC.

NEET PG 2025 Resignation Window Dates and Timings

Date and Time

Resignation Window Start

Who Can Resign From NEET PG 2025 Round 1 and 2 Seats

MCC clarified the categories of candidates who are eligible to resign during the extended window. The rules apply uniformly across both counselling rounds. The resignation facility is available for:

  • Candidates allotted seats in Round 2 who joined the allotted institute
  • Candidates upgraded from Round 1 to Round 2, accepted the upgraded seat, and later decided to withdraw
  • Candidates who had not completed resignation earlier despite seat allotment

In all applicable cases, resignation will lead to forfeiture of the security deposit, as per MCC counselling guidelines.

Mandatory Process for NEET PG 2025 Seat Resignation

MCC has made the resignation procedure mandatory and strictly regulated. Candidates must follow the prescribed process to ensure that the resignation is treated as valid. The key instructions are as follows:

  • Candidates must physically report to the allotted college
  • The resignation must be initiated and processed by the institute
  • A Resignation Letter must be generated through the MCC portal
  • Any resignation not processed via the MCC system will be considered null and void

Candidates failing to follow this process will continue to be treated as admitted, even if they stop attending the institute.

NEET PG 2025 Counselling Status Update

The NEET PG 2025 Round 2 seat allotment result was announced on 16 December 2025. Following the allotment, MCC received multiple requests regarding resignation timelines, leading to the extension. Candidates are advised to closely monitor official counselling updates for information related to further rounds, seat conversion, and mop-up counselling schedules.
