The Maharashtra State Examination Council has postponed the Class 5 and Class 8 Scholarship Exam 2026 due to its clash with the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). Many primary and secondary teachers in the state will appear for CTET on 8 February 2026, which led to a strong demand to change the scholarship exam date.
The Council has accepted this request and announced a revised schedule for the scholarship exam. Now, the Maharashtra Scholarship Examination 2026 will be held on 22 February 2026 across the state. Students preparing for the exam must adjust their study plan according to this updated date.
Why the Scholarship Exam Was Postponed
The earlier schedule had placed the scholarship exam and CTET on the same day. Teachers appearing for CTET had raised concerns, as they also support the conduct of the scholarship exam in their respective schools. To avoid operational issues and ensure smooth management, the Maharashtra State Examination Council decided to shift the date.
According to officials, this step was taken to reduce inconvenience for both students and teachers. The Council confirmed that the exam will now take place on a single day statewide on the new date.
Official Statement from MSCE
Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) Commissioner Anuradha Oak has appealed to students, parents, schools and examination centres to take note of the change. Schools have been asked to update their schedules and inform students at the earliest.
