Maharashtra's pharmacy college admissions face delays due to the NEET-UG re-exam, as 15% of seats are reserved under the all-India quota.

Maharashtra Pharmacy Admissions Delayed Due to NEET-UG Re-Exam 2026

Maharashtra's pharmacy college admissions are experiencing significant delays due to the upcoming NEET-UG re-exam 2026. The state's Higher Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, has confirmed that these delays are a direct consequence of the re-examination, which is critical for the allocation of pharmacy seats reserved under the all-India quota.

The NEET-UG re-exam 2026 is scheduled for June 21, 2026. This timing poses challenges for the admissions process, as the results from this examination are essential for determining eligibility for pharmacy college seats in Maharashtra. Minister Patil emphasized that the admissions for 15% of pharmacy seats are allocated through the all-India quota (AIQ) based on NEET scores. Consequently, the entire admissions timeline has been pushed back, affecting students who are eager to secure their places in pharmacy colleges.

Maharashtra Pharmacy Admissions: Key Facts

The delays in the pharmacy admissions process are not just logistical; they have broader implications for students and the academic calendar. Here are some critical points regarding the situation:

  • The admissions process was initially expected to conclude by the end of June.
  • The NEET-UG re-exam is crucial for determining eligibility for the all-India quota seats.
  • Students must wait for the re-exam results before any seat allotment can occur.
  • The delay may impact the start of the new academic session for pharmacy colleges across the state.

How Will NEET-UG Re-Exam 2026 Impact Admission Procedures?

Due to the scheduling of the NEET-UG re-exam 2026, the Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Minister has indicated that the admissions process will be delayed. The Common Entrance Test Cell, which oversees admissions, will not be able to proceed with seat allotments until the results of the re-exam are published. This situation has left many prospective pharmacy students in uncertainty regarding their future educational paths.

New Regulations for Fee Collection in Pharmacy Colleges

In addition to addressing the delays in admissions, Minister Patil has introduced new regulations aimed at improving the fee collection process in pharmacy colleges. These regulations include:

  • Colleges are prohibited from charging separate fees under different names, such as development fees or laboratory fees.
  • All compulsory fees must be consolidated into a single fee structure.
  • The total fee amount will be monitored by the state's Fee Regulatory Authority to ensure transparency and fairness.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide financial assistance to female students pursuing higher education in Maharashtra, ensuring that education remains accessible and equitable.
