The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that candidates who missed the UGCET 2026 option entry deadline will receive another opportunity after the mock seat allotment results. Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has provided relief to candidates who could not complete the UGCET 2026 option entry before the June 30, 2026 deadline. The authority has confirmed that a fresh option entry window will be opened after the declaration of the mock seat allotment results, allowing eligible candidates to submit or modify their college and course preferences.
KEA Announces Fresh UGCET 2026 Option Entry Window
Following the closure of the initial option entry process, many candidates expressed concerns about missing the counselling deadline. Responding to these concerns, KEA clarified that candidates who were unable to submit their choices during the first phase will not be excluded from the admission process. According to the authority, the second option entry window will become available immediately after the publication of the UGCET 2026 mock seat allotment results. During this period, both candidates who missed the initial deadline and those wishing to revise their preferences will be able to update their choices.
UGCET 2026 Counselling Timeline
KEA has outlined the next stages of the counselling process after the completion of the first option entry phase. The revised option entry facility will allow candidates to review the mock allotment outcome and make informed changes to their preferences before the final seat allotment. Candidates can refer to the important schedule below.
Who Can Use the Second Option Entry Window?
The additional option entry window has been introduced to ensure that no eligible candidate loses an opportunity to participate in the counselling process due to missing the earlier deadline. The following candidates can benefit from the second option entry phase:
- Candidates who did not complete option entry before June 30, 2026.
- Applicants who wish to modify or rearrange their previously submitted choices.
- Eligible candidates participating in the ongoing UGCET 2026 counselling process.
What Happens After KCET Option Entry Closes?
With the first option entry phase now completed, KEA will process the submitted preferences to prepare the mock seat allotment. The counselling process will continue as follows:
- Processing of submitted college and course preferences.
- Publication of the Mock Seat Allotment Result on July 06, 2026.
- Opening of the second option entry window.
- Candidates can revise, add, delete, or reorder their choices based on the mock allotment.
- Final seat allotment will be prepared using the revised preferences submitted during the second option entry phase.
Importance of the Mock Seat Allotment
The mock allotment is intended to help candidates understand their probable seat allocation based on the options entered during the first phase. It also provides an opportunity to assess whether changes in preferences could improve the chances of securing admission to a preferred college or course. Candidates are advised to carefully review the mock allotment result before making any modifications during the second option entry window.
