The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has revised improvement exam rules for the 2nd PUC class of 2026, limiting improvement attempts to the same or the next academic year. Updated policy also introduces new eligibility and marksheet submission conditions for students who opt for improved scores.

Karnataka 2nd PUC 2026 Improvement Exam Rules Revised by Board

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has approved revised rules for the Karnataka 2nd PUC improvement exam 2026, affecting how students can re‑attempt board exams to raise their scores.

Revised Improvement Exam Eligibility and Attempts for PUC 2026

Under the updated guidelines, all students who registered for the Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam 2026 — including regular, private and repeat candidates — must now complete their improvement attempts within the same academic year of their original registration or the immediately following year. The revised eligibility framework applies to students who have appeared or will appear in Karnataka PUC exams from 2024 onward. This change aims to simplify record‑keeping and avoid administrative delays related to maintaining extended student data across years.

New Rules on Syllabus and Marksheet Submission

According to the updated directives, students opting for improvement exams must follow the revised syllabus of the current academic year when preparing and sitting for improvement papers. Another key component of the updated policy requires students to submit their original marksheet to the board before receiving the updated marksheet reflecting improved scores. The new marksheet will be issued only after the original document has been surrendered. These measures are intended to uphold transparency and prevent students from holding multiple active marksheets for the same examination cycle.

Impact on Students and Examination Process

The board’s revised structure gives students controlled opportunities to improve their marks but with clear time boundaries. Improvement attempts that fall outside the defined period — the same or the next academic year — will no longer be permitted under the new rules. These updates are likely to influence planning for students aiming to raise their scores for competitive exams, admissions or academic records. Institutes and coaching centres are also expected to adjust their guidance in light of these changes.

What Students Should Do Next?

Students planning to sit for improvement exams should check official board channels for updated rules and schedules. They must ensure that their improvement attempts are completed in time and prepare according to the latest syllabus mandates. Boards typically announce registration windows and detailed processes after such major policy shifts. For any queries on specifics like exam dates, application forms or marksheet submission, students are advised to consult their respective pre‑university colleges or official board notifications.
