JPSC Prelims Exam Analysis 2026: Paper 1 Review, Difficulty Level & Good Attempts

The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) conducted the JPSC Prelims Exam 2026 on April 19, 2026, for Combined Civil Services recruitment across the state. The prelims examination is being held in two shifts on the same day, with Paper 1 (General Studies-I) in the morning shift and Paper 2 (General Studies-II) in the afternoon shift. Candidates appearing for the exam can check the shift-wise paper analysis, difficulty level, important topics, and expected good attempts here.

 

JPSC Prelims 2026 Shift Timings

As per the official schedule, the JPSC Prelims exam is conducted in two shifts:

  • Shift 1 (Paper 1 – General Studies I): 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Shift 2 (Paper 2 – General Studies II): 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Candidates were required to report by 9:00 AM for Shift 1 and 2:00 PM for Shift 2 for document verification and entry formalities.

 

JPSC Prelims April 19, 2026 Paper 1 Analysis

The General Studies Paper 1 exam has been completed successfully in Shift 1. Based on student reactions and expert analysis, the overall difficulty level of the paper was easy to moderate. Most candidates found the paper balanced with a mix of factual and concept-based questions. The estimated good attempts for Paper 1 are around 74 to 76 questions out of 100. The paper included direct questions, statement-based questions, and match-the-column type questions. Questions from History, Current Affairs, Jharkhand GK, and Environmental Science carried higher weightage compared to some other sections.

 

Subject-Wise Weightage in JPSC Paper 1

As per the analysis, the subject-wise question distribution was approximately:

  • Indian History: 15 questions
  • Indian Geography: 10 questions
  • Indian Polity and Governance: 10 questions
  • Economic and Sustainable Development: 10 questions
  • Science and Technology: 15 questions
  • Jharkhand General Awareness: 10 questions
  • National and International Current Events: 15 questions
  • Miscellaneous GK: 15 questions

This shows strong focus on current affairs and Jharkhand-related topics in the prelims exam.

 

JPSC Prelims 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The JPSC Prelims exam includes:

  • Paper 1: General Studies I
  • Paper 2: General Studies II

Each paper contains:

  • 100 objective-type questions
  • 200 marks per paper
  • Duration: 2 hours each

There is no negative marking in the JPSC Prelims examination, which allows candidates to attempt more questions without penalty.

 

Paper 2 (GS-II) Update

Paper 2 (General Studies II) is scheduled in the second shift from 3 PM to 5 PM. The detailed analysis for Shift 2 will be available after the exam concludes. Candidates are advised to check updates for Paper 2 difficulty level, good attempts, and important questions later in the day.
