Jawaharlal Nehru University has announced the JNU PhD Admission 2025-26 for the Phase-II Winter Semester, inviting applications under NET, JRF, and GATE categories. The university will offer 230 PhD seats across various Schools and Centres. Interested candidates must check the eligibility rules, programme requirements, and selection procedures before submitting their applications.
The admissions will be conducted through three major routes: UGC/CSIR NET, UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT/NBHM JRF, and GATE scores for specific engineering disciplines. Only candidates with valid scores in the relevant subjects will be considered for shortlisting.

JNU PhD Eligibility Criteria 2025-26JNU accepts candidates for PhD through three categories. Each category has specific academic and score-based requirements.
Admission Through UGC/CSIR NET
- Selection includes 70% weightage to NET percentile and 30% to viva-voce.
- Only NET percentiles from UGC/CSIR NET December 2024 onwards will be valid.
- Candidates must meet programme-specific educational criteria and must have NET in the relevant or allied subject.
- Applicants without valid NET percentiles will not be considered.
Admission Through JRF
- Candidates must meet programme-specific eligibility conditions.
- Valid JRF qualifications accepted: UGC/CSIR, ICMR, DBT, NBHM.
- JRF category selection is based solely on viva-voce (100%).
- The JRF certificate must be valid during physical document verification.
Admission Through GATE Score
- Applicable for CSE, ECE, and Mechanical Engineering under the School of Engineering.
- A valid GATE score is mandatory at the time of application.
- Selection includes 70% weightage to GATE score and 30% to viva-voce.

Steps to Apply Online for JNU PhD Admission 2025-26
- Visit the official JNU website and create a new registration.
- Fill the online form with personal details, educational records, and programme preferences (up to three).
- Choose the appropriate category: NET/JRF/GATE.
- Upload scanned copies of photo, signature, certificates, and valid NET/JRF/GATE proof.
- Pay the application fee through the online payment gateway.
- Review the entire form carefully and submit it.
- Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
JNU PhD Selection Process 2025-26JNU will shortlist candidates for viva-voce based on NET or GATE scores, depending on the category.

- NET category: Shortlisting based on NET percentile.
- GATE category: Shortlisting based on valid GATE score.
- JRF category: Direct viva-voce shortlisting as per JRF eligibility.
