The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced that the Class 11 external practical exams for the 2025 Oct-Nov session in the Jammu Winter Zone will now be conducted within students’ own schools rather than centralised centres. The decision aims to protect students from harsh sub-zero temperatures while ensuring the smooth conduct of practical exams.
Why JKBOSE Is Conducting Practical Exams at Schools?
Facing “extreme cold weather conditions involving sub-zero temperature,” JKBOSE declared in an official circular that external practical assessments for Class 11 (Higher Secondary Part-I) in Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division will happen in the students’ current affiliated schools — government or private. This will apply only if there are at least 25 candidates per subject in a given school. This change aims to safeguard the health and academic interests of students while preserving 100% attendance. External examiners will still be appointed to maintain fairness and standard evaluation.
What Students Must Verify Before Practical Exams?
Before the practical exam day, students should carefully check the following on their admit card or school communication:
- Their school name and address (since exams will now be held at their own school)
- Subject-wise confirmation that there are 25 or more candidates — only then is the school-based exam valid
- Appointment of external examiners as notified by JKBOSE
If any of these conditions are not met, students are advised to reach out to school authorities or JKBOSE immediately.
When JKBOSE released the Date Sheet what It mean?
The JKBOSE Class 11 2025 date sheet for the Annual Regular Oct-Nov session was published on October 8, 2025. Board exams are scheduled from November 19 to December 13, 2025, across all streams (Science, Arts, Commerce, Home Science). However, for practical exams (external assessment), a separate date sheet will be issued by the respective Joint Secretaries.
What Students and Schools Should Do Next?
- Schools should confirm if they meet the minimum candidate threshold (25 per subject) to host the practical exam.
- Students should stay alert for school-level notices regarding exam date, time and examiner details.
- Students must carry a required valid school ID, admit card and identification on the day of the practical exam as per JKBOSE regulations.
This provision shows JKBOSE’s sensitivity to winter-zone challenges while striving to ensure uninterrupted academic assessment for Class 11 students.
