The Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) has announced the reopening of the online registration portal for NEET PG 2025 Round 3 counselling for postgraduate medical admissions in MD, MS and PG Diploma (PGD) programmes. This move comes after a revision of qualifying percentile cut-offs at the national level aimed at improving seat occupancy in medical colleges. Eligible candidates from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh can now complete their registration or update details through the official JKBOPEE portal — jkbopee.gov.in — with the registration window open until 20 January 2026.
National Cut-Off Revisions Make More Candidates Eligible
The reopening of the counselling registration follows a National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and government directive to lower the NEET PG qualifying cut-off percentiles. This adjustment was made in response to a large number of vacant PG medical seats nationwide, enabling more NEET PG-qualified candidates to participate in subsequent counselling rounds. Under the revised criteria:
- The qualifying percentile for the General and EWS categories has been significantly reduced.
- Reserved categories, including SC, ST and OBC, now have eligibility set at near-zero or lower percentile thresholds.
- The changes aim to better utilise available MD, MS and PGD seats across medical colleges.
What Candidates Should Know?
JKBOPEE Chairperson Minu Mahajan stated that the online portal remains open till 20 January 2026 for Round 3 registrations. A provisional merit list reflecting all eligible applicants is expected to be released between 22 and 23 January 2026, with counselling beginning after 27 January 2026 as per MCC and JKBOPEE schedules. Mahajan noted that the updated cut-off provisions allow candidates who previously did not meet older, higher cut-off requirements to now participate in the counselling rounds, especially in medical colleges with a high number of unfilled seats. However, candidates with higher merit scores remain unaffected in their competitive position.
Counselling and Merit List Process
Candidates registering for Round 3 should ensure the accuracy of their NEET PG score, domicile and category certificates, as well as other required documents for verification. After registration closes, JKBOPEE will prepare a revised provisional merit list, which will drive seat allotment and counselling activities. With the registration window now reopened, medical aspirants who became eligible due to the cut-off revision have a renewed opportunity to secure admissions into postgraduate medical programmes for the 2025-26 session.
