The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon open the JEE Mains 2026 registration for session 1. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The first session is scheduled for January 21 to 30, 2026, while the second session will take place from April 1 to 10, 2026. This biannual approach allows candidates multiple opportunities to appear for one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance exams.
JEE Mains 2026 Examination Schedule
Why JEE Main is Held Twice a Year?
Conducting JEE Main twice a year benefits candidates in multiple ways:
- First-hand experience – Session 1 helps students understand the exam pattern and common pitfalls, allowing improvement in session 2.
- Two opportunities – Candidates get two attempts within a few months, avoiding a wasted year if performance is unsatisfactory.
- Flexibility – If a candidate misses the first session due to unavoidable circumstances, they can appear in session 2.
- Best score considered – NTA considers the higher score of the two sessions for ranking and admission.
This system ensures students have a fair chance to perform optimally without losing a full academic year.
