JEE Main 2026 Syllabus and Exam Pattern Released by NTA

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the syllabus and exam pattern for JEE Main 2026. The engineering entrance test will be conducted across 323 cities in India and abroad during the January 2026 session. The detailed syllabus and structure have been updated on the official JEE Main portal.

 

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern Announced

The JEE Main 2026 exam will be held in two papers — Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech and Paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Planning. The test will be conducted in computer-based mode.

  • Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Paper 2A (B.Arch) will include Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test.
  • Paper 2B (B.Planning) will have Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based questions.

Each subject will consist of 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 10 numerical questions, out of which 5 must be attempted.

The National Testing Agency has maintained the standard marking pattern for JEE Main 2026.

Each paper will carry a total of 300 marks. Unanswered questions will not attract any penalty.

 

JEE Main 2026 Syllabus Highlights

The JEE Main 2026 syllabus remains largely similar to the previous year, covering core NCERT topics from Classes 11 and 12.

  • Physics: Laws of Motion, Thermodynamics, Current Electricity, and Semiconductor Devices
  • Chemistry: Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Polymers
  • Mathematics: Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vector Algebra, and Probability

Candidates are advised to refer to the official syllabus for detailed topic coverage under each subject.

 

JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates and Sessions

NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2026 January session in multiple shifts. The April session is also expected to follow a similar structure, allowing students two attempts for better scores.
