The JEE Main 2026 Session One Shift Two exam commenced on 22 January 2026 from 3 PM to 6 PM across designated centres nationwide. The computer-based test follows strict NTA guidelines, and candidates are required to carry their admit card and valid photo ID to enter the exam hall.

JEE Main 2026 Shift 2 Exam Begins on 22 January, 3 PM to 6 PM

The JEE Main 2026 Session One Shift Two exam officially started on 22 January 2026. Conducted in computer-based mode by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam is held for candidates appearing in Paper 1 (BE/BTech). The second shift of Session One is scheduled from 3 PM to 6 PM, with strict reporting and verification protocols at all centres.

 

JEE Main 2026 Shift Two Exam Timing and Reporting

Candidates appearing in Shift Two were instructed to report well before the start time for biometric and security verification.

  • Shift: Two (Afternoon)
  • Exam Date: 22 January 2026
  • Exam Timing: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Last Entry: 2:30 PM

No candidate will be allowed entry after the reporting cut-off time.

 

Exam Pattern for JEE Main 2026 Paper 1

The exam follows the standard JEE Main Paper 1 structure:

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
  • Total Questions: 90 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical per subject)
  • Questions to Attempt: 75
  • Maximum Marks: 300

Candidates must carefully select numerical questions as only five per subject are required to be attempted.

 

Exam-Day Guidelines

To ensure a smooth examination process, NTA has mandated the following:

  • Carry printed JEE Main 2026 admit card
  • Valid photo identity proof
  • Passport-size photograph as per the admit card
  • Electronic devices, stationery, and metallic items are prohibited inside the exam hall

 

After the Exam

Once all shifts of the January session are complete, NTA will release the provisional and final answer keys, followed by the JEE Main 2026 result. Scores will determine:

  • JEE Main 2026 ranking
  • Eligibility for JoSAA counselling
  • Qualification for JEE Advanced 2026
