The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced JEE Main 2026 Session 2 registration from 1 February 2026 at jeemain.nta.nic.in, with the last date to apply on 25 February 2026. The exam will be held from 2 to 9 April 2026 in computer-based mode. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria and complete the online application process before the deadline
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the registration window for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 on 1 February 2026. The application form is now live at the official portal jeemain.nta.nic.in, offering aspiring engineers another chance to secure admission to undergraduate programmes such as B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning in leading institutions including IITs, NITs and IIITs.
JEE Main 2026 Session 2: Key Dates and Application Deadline
The second session registration for JEE Main 2026 will remain open until 25 February 2026 at 9 pm. Candidates must complete the application and fee payment by the same date; payment through online modes will be accepted up to 11:50 pm on the final day. Following registration, important subsequent events will include the release of admit cards in late March 2026 and the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam itself, scheduled from 2 to 9 April 2026 across multiple shifts and test centres nationwide.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2026
To be eligible for JEE Main 2026 Session 2, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2024, 2025 or be appearing in Class 12 in 2026.
- For Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), candidates need Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with any one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subjects.
- For Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning), appropriate subject combinations are required as per NTA guidelines.
- There is no age limit for JEE Main as per current rules.
Applicants who appeared in Session 1 (January 2026) can also register for Session 2 using the same credentials, with options to update preferences such as exam city, medium and paper choice.
How to Apply for JEE Main 2026 Session 2?
Aspiring candidates should follow these steps to complete their application:
- Go to the official JEE Main website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- Click on the link for Session 2 registration on the homepage under the “Candidate Activity” section.
- Complete the registration form, enter personal and academic details.
- Upload required documents (photograph, signature, ID proof).
- Pay the application fee online as per category.
- Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.
Application Fees and Format
The application fee varies by category and paper choice. Commonly applicable fee structures include:
- General/OBC-NCL Male applicants paying higher rates.
- Female/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates paying lower fees.Fees can be paid via credit/debit card, net banking or UPI through the online portal.
Importance of Session 2 for Aspirants
JEE Main Session 2 offers students who missed Session 1 or want to improve their scores a valuable opportunity to strengthen their position for admissions and ranking. NTA typically considers the best score from the two sessions when preparing final results, which can enhance chances of placement in preferred institutes.
