JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will commence from 21 January and continue till 29 January. Candidates must strictly follow reporting time, exam day instructions, and carry only permitted items to the exam centre.

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Starts 21 January: Exam Day Rules

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 Session 1 is set to begin from 21 January 2026. Candidates appearing for the engineering entrance test must carefully follow the exam day guidelines issued by the conducting authority to ensure a smooth entry and examination process. Entry to the examination centre will be permitted strictly as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. Late entry may not be allowed under any circumstances.

 

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam Dates and Reporting Schedule

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be conducted over multiple days and in two shifts each day. Candidates should reach the allotted centre well before the reporting deadline to complete frisking and verification formalities. The reporting and shift-wise schedule is outlined below:

  • Exam dates: 21 January 2026 to 29 January 2026
  • Shift 1 (Morning):
    • Reporting and entry: 07:00 AM – 08:30 AM
    • Exam time: 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Shift 2 (Afternoon):
    • Reporting and entry: 01:00 PM – 02:30 PM
    • Exam time: 03:00 PM – 06:00 PM

Candidates must check the exact shift, reporting time, and centre address printed on their admit card.

 

Mandatory Documents to Carry at JEE Main Exam Centre 2026

Before reaching the exam venue, candidates must ensure they are carrying all required documents in original and printed form. Entry without mandatory documents will not be permitted. Candidates are required to carry:

  • JEE Main 2026 admit card (clear printed copy)
  • One valid photo identity proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or School/College ID)
  • One passport-size photograph
  • PwD certificate, if applicable, issued by a competent authority

No additional personal belongings or papers are allowed inside the examination hall.

 

JEE Main 2026 Dress Code and Clothing Guidelines

Although no fixed dress code has been prescribed, candidates are advised to wear simple and comfortable clothing to facilitate smooth security checks. Recommended attire includes:

  • Light and simple clothes
  • Trousers or pants without extra pockets
  • Slippers or sandals with low heels

 

Items Strictly Prohibited Inside JEE Main Exam Centres

To maintain exam integrity, several items are banned inside the examination venue. Candidates found carrying prohibited items may face disqualification. The following are not allowed:

  • Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices
  • Calculators or electronic gadgets
  • Wallets, handbags, books, notes, or loose papers
  • Shoes with thick soles, jackets, hoodies, or coats
  • Metallic accessories, watches, rings, chains, or badges
  • Caps, scarves, stoles, or headgear (except for religious reasons)

 

Important Instructions for Candidates

The examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency. Candidates are advised to thoroughly read all instructions printed on the admit card and follow invigilator directions during the exam.
