JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Day 1 records strong student turnout with over 2.6 lakh appearing. Attendance crosses roughly 96 percent across both shifts, reflecting high preparedness. The National Testing Agency confirms smooth exam conduct on the first day.
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination on Day 1 was conducted smoothly, with over 2.6 lakh candidates appearing for the test and approximately 96 percent attendance recorded across both shifts, the National Testing Agency (NTA) confirms. The strong turnout indicates high levels of candidate preparedness and confidence in the competitive engineering entrance process.
High Attendance Reflects Strong Candidate Turnout
Across the morning and afternoon shifts on Day 1 of the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exams, attendance remained notably high, with most registered candidates turning up at their respective exam centres. The consistent presence of students in both shifts underlines the significance of the examination for engineering aspirants nationwide.
The attendance rate of around 96 percent remains in line with or slightly above historical trends for JEE Main’s January session, where robust participation is common due to the exam’s crucial role in determining admission prospects to top engineering institutes.
Smooth Conduct of Day 1 Exam
The NTA ensured that the Day 1 exam proceeded without major disruptions, with reported activities at exam centres following scheduled timings and processes. Both shifts upheld standard testing protocols, reinforcing the authority’s efforts to manage large‑scale examinations efficiently. Candidates who appeared on Day 1 are now awaiting subject‑wise analyses, unofficial answer keys, and memory‑based solutions for the question papers. These resources, typically released by coaching institutes and educators shortly after each exam, help students estimate their performance and identify key trends ahead of the official answer key.
What’s Next in JEE Main Session 1?
After the successful completion of Day 1, the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exams will continue on subsequent dates with multiple shifts. Students are advised to focus on preparation for their remaining slots, including reviewing past question patterns and strengthening conceptual understanding across subjects — Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics — to optimise performance. The official answer keys, response sheets, and final results will be released by the testing authority after all session papers conclude, enabling candidates to calculate final scores and determine their percentile ranks, which are essential for admissions and counselling to engineering programmes across India.
