JEE Main 2026 Result Soon; Bonus Marks for Dropped Questions?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to declare the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results shortly on its official website — jeemain.nta.nic.in. As lakhs of aspirants await their scorecards, one major concern remains: Will bonus marks be given for questions dropped from the final answer key?

JEE Main 2026 Final Answer Key and Dropped Questions

Before announcing the results, NTA releases the final answer key after reviewing objections raised by candidates against the provisional answer key. If the agency finds any question incorrect, ambiguous or technically flawed, it may drop the question from evaluation. In previous years, when questions were officially dropped, NTA awarded full marks (typically +4 marks) to all candidates who appeared in that particular shift, irrespective of whether they attempted the question or not.

Will Bonus Marks Be Given in JEE Main 2026?

As per NTA’s established evaluation policy for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main), if a question is dropped in the final answer key:

  • Full marks are generally awarded to all candidates who appeared in that shift.
  • No negative marking is applied for the dropped question.
  • The normalization process accounts for shift-wise variations in difficulty level.

However, the final decision regarding bonus marks will only be confirmed once the official final answer key for JEE Main 2026 is released.
