JEE Main 2026 January 23 Shift 2 Question Paper Analysis is now available after the completion of the exam. The examination concluded at 6 pm and candidates shared their feedback from various centres. Based on early reactions, the paper followed a balanced structure with mixed difficulty levels across sections.

 

JEE Main 2026 Jan 23 Shift 2 Exam Overview

The Shift 2 exam was conducted smoothly in the afternoon slot. Candidates attempted questions from all three sections—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics—within the prescribed duration. Students reported that the paper was in line with the prescribed syllabus. Time management played a key role, especially in Mathematics, which required careful calculation and selection of questions.

 

JEE Main 2026 January 23 Shift 2 Subject-Wise Difficulty Level

Based on feedback collected after the exam, subject-wise difficulty trends have emerged. These insights help candidates assess their performance and guide future aspirants.

  • Physics: Mostly formula-based with a few conceptual questions. The overall level was reported as easy to moderate.
  • Chemistry: Questions were largely NCERT-based. Inorganic and Physical Chemistry were considered straightforward by many candidates.
  • Mathematics: The section was perceived as lengthy. While most questions were doable, time consumption was a challenge.

Overall, the Shift 2 paper was rated as moderate by a majority of candidates.

 

JEE Main 2026 Jan 23 Shift 2 Student Reactions

Student reactions suggested that accuracy and smart question selection were crucial for scoring well. Candidates who focused on familiar topics were able to attempt a good number of questions confidently. Many students felt that the difficulty level was comparable to earlier shifts of the January session. Some also stated that the paper was slightly easier than expected, particularly in Chemistry.

 

JEE Main 2026 January 23 Shift 2 Expected Cut-Off

Although the National Testing Agency will not release official cut-off data at this stage, coaching experts have shared early expectations. The cut-off is likely to depend on overall performance, shift difficulty, and number of candidates.

 

Based on initial analysis, the expected cut-off for Shift 2 is anticipated to remain close to the session average. Detailed marks vs percentile estimates are expected to be released by coaching institutes in the coming days. Candidates are advised to wait for the official answer key and response sheet to get a clearer idea of their final scores in JEE Main 2026 Session 1.
