JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Shift 1 concludes at 12 noon, with students immediately focusing on the Shift 2 exam. Shift 1 features moderate difficulty, Chemistry as scoring, and Mathematics as challenging. Students rely on unofficial answer keys to estimate performance before the official key release.
The JEE Main 2026 January 22 Session 1 Shift 1 examination concludes at 12 noon, after which candidates begin preparing for the Shift 2 afternoon session. Early feedback from Shift 1 reveals that the overall difficulty remains moderate, with Chemistry emerging as the most scoring section, Physics being moderately challenging, and Mathematics requiring careful time management.
Shift 1 Subject-Wise Analysis
Students report the following trends for Shift 1:
- Physics: Moderate, combining conceptual and formula-based questions.
- Chemistry: Easy to moderate, largely NCERT-aligned questions allow faster attempts.
- Mathematics: Moderate to difficult, with lengthy calculations demanding strategic problem-solving.
Time management emerges as a key factor, especially in the Mathematics section, where extended calculations challenge many candidates.
Preparing for Shift 2
With Shift 2 scheduled in the afternoon, students are advised to review key concepts, analyse mistakes from the morning session, and manage time efficiently. Early preparations can help optimize performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, where difficulty trends are expected to remain similar to Shift 1.
Unofficial Answer Keys and Student Insights
Following the conclusion of Shift 1, coaching institutes release unofficial answer keys and memory-based solutions. Candidates use these to cross-verify attempted answers and estimate probable scores ahead of the official answer key release.
What’s Next?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release official answer keys, response sheets, and final results soon. These will determine percentile scores, admissions eligibility, and counselling processes for engineering aspirants.
