JEE Main 2026 Exam Day Guidelines, Dress Code and Documents

JEE Main 2026 Exam Day Guidelines have been released as the National Testing Agency commenced the Session 1 examination on 21 January 2026. The entrance test will continue on multiple dates as per the official schedule. Candidates appearing for the exam must strictly adhere to the prescribed instructions to avoid any inconvenience at the examination centre.

The guidelines include reporting time, dress code rules, prohibited items, and documents required for verification. These instructions are applicable to all candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2026 examination across centres.

JEE Main 2026 Reporting Time and Entry Rules

Candidates are required to reach the examination centre well before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. Late entry is not permitted under any circumstances once the gates are closed.

Before the exam begins, candidates must complete biometric verification and frisking procedures. Cooperation with the examination staff during security checks is mandatory to ensure a smooth conduct of the exam.

JEE Main 2026 Dress Code Guidelines

  • Light-coloured clothes with half sleeves are permitted
  • Full sleeves, jackets, or layered clothing are not allowed
  • Shoes are prohibited; candidates should wear slippers or sandals
  • No metallic items such as belts, jewellery, watches, or hair accessories are allowed

Candidates wearing prohibited attire may not be allowed to enter the examination hall.

Documents Required for JEE Main 2026 Exam Day

  • Valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, or voter ID
  • One passport-size photograph, preferably the same as uploaded in the application form

All documents should be in good condition and clearly readable.

Items Allowed and Prohibited Inside the Exam Centre

Only essential items permitted by the NTA are allowed inside the examination hall. Any electronic or banned items found during frisking may lead to strict action. Items not allowed inside the exam centre include:

  • Mobile phones, calculators, smart watches, and Bluetooth devices
  • Bags, wallets, notebooks, or loose papers
  • Food items, except those permitted for medical reasons with prior approval

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates must carefully read and follow all instructions mentioned on the admit card. Rough work must be done only on the sheets provided at the centre. Any form of unfair means or misconduct may lead to cancellation of candidature.
