JEE Main 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: Do’s, Don’ts & Reporting Time

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination is scheduled to be conducted from 21 January 2026 to 29 January 2026. With the exam approaching, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has outlined clear exam day guidelines to ensure a smooth and fair conduct of the test. Things to Carry on JEE Main 2026 Exam Day (Do’s)

Before leaving for the exam centre, candidates must ensure they carry all mandatory documents. Entry to the examination hall is strictly denied in case of missing documents. Candidates must carry a clear printout of the JEE Main 2026 admit card, ensuring all details and instructions are clearly visible. A valid government-issued photo ID proof such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence is compulsory for identity verification. Additionally, candidates should carry two recent passport-size photographs, preferably the same as uploaded in the application form. A photo verification certificate is required only for candidates specifically instructed by NTA through official communication.

Items Prohibited at JEE Main 2026 Exam Centre (Don’ts)

NTA has strictly prohibited certain items inside the exam hall. Carrying any restricted item may lead to cancellation of candidature. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, earphones, or any communication gadget are not allowed. Candidates must not carry study material, written notes, loose papers, or books. Accessories containing metal, including rings, chains, bracelets, belts, hair clips, underwired bras, or jewellery, should be avoided as they may cause issues during security checks.

JEE Main 2026 Reporting Time and Shift-Wise Exam Schedule

The JEE Main 2026 examination will be conducted in two shifts each day. Candidates must strictly adhere to the reporting and entry timings mentioned on their admit card. For the morning shift, reporting begins at 7:00 AM, with the last entry allowed at 8:30 AM. The examination will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. For the afternoon shift, reporting starts at 1:00 PM, and the last entry time is 2:30 PM. The exam will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre after the last entry time under any circumstances.

Important Instructions Inside the Exam Hall

Candidates must carefully follow instructions given by invigilators, especially during the login and instruction-reading phase. Rough sheets provided at the centre must be used properly, and the roll number should be written on them as instructed. Time management is crucial. Candidates are advised to attempt questions strategically based on their strengths and avoid spending excessive time on lengthy or difficult questions.
