The National Testing Agency (NTA) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have announced their respective engineering entrance exam schedules for 2026. However, the exam periods for JEE Main 2026 and AEEE 2026 appear to overlap, causing concern among candidates planning to appear for both.
JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates Announced by NTA
According to the official academic calendar, JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be conducted between January 21 and January 30, 2026. While NTA has not yet disclosed the exact day-wise schedule, the window confirms that the exam will take place during the last ten days of January. The application process for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 is currently open at jeemain.nta.nic.in, and the last date to apply is November 27, 2025. The computer-based test will be held in multiple shifts across India and abroad.
AEEE 2026 Dates Overlap with JEE Main Schedule
The Amrita Entrance Examination – Engineering (AEEE) 2026 will be held in two phases. As per Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s official notification, Phase 1 is scheduled from January 29 to February 1, 2026, directly overlapping with JEE Main’s first session window. This clash could affect students registered for both exams. However, since AEEE follows a slot booking system, there remains flexibility for candidates to choose a date that does not coincide with their JEE Main exam.
The AEEE 2026 registration process is currently active at aeee.amrita.edu. Applicants can select their preferred city and exam slot once the slot booking window opens in January.
Changes Introduced in AEEE 2026
This year, Amrita University has updated the AEEE exam pattern, introducing a new ‘Quantitative Aptitude’ section worth 30 marks. The test will continue to be held in computer-based mode, assessing candidates on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Aptitude.
What Candidates Can Expect Next?
If the JEE Main 2026 and AEEE 2026 clash continues, candidates might need to adjust their AEEE slots or wait for NTA’s detailed schedule, which could provide separate exam dates to avoid overlap. The final day-wise JEE Main timetable is expected to be released in December 2025.
