The National Testing Agency has released the official dress code for JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Candidates appearing between April 2 and April 8 must strictly follow these guidelines to avoid any last-minute issues at exam centres. As per official instructions, shoes with thick soles and garments with large buttons are not allowed inside the examination hall.

 

JEE Main 2026 Dress Code for Females: What to Wear & Avoid?

Female candidates are advised to keep their attire simple and comfortable to ensure smooth entry and frisking.

 

What to Wear:

  • Lightweight tops or simple clothing
  • Plain jeans, trousers, leggings, or jeggings
  • Simple slippers or flat sandals

What to Avoid:

  • Clothes with metallic zippers, large buttons, or embroidery
  • Caps, scarves, stoles, or hats
  • Jewellery including rings, chains, bracelets, and watches
  • Underwired garments that may cause frisking issues

 

JEE Main 2026 Dress Code for Males: Allowed & Banned Items

Male candidates should also follow minimal and simple dressing guidelines.

 

What to Wear:

  • Light cotton clothes
  • Plain trousers or jeans without heavy pockets or metal items
  • Slippers, sandals, or low-sole footwear

What to Avoid:

  • Metallic items, chains, or accessories
  • Caps, scarves, and belts
  • Heavy clothing or layered outfits

 

JEE Main 2026 Dress Code for Religious Attire: Special Rules

Candidates wearing religious attire such as turbans or carrying items like Kara or Kirpan are allowed. However, they must report to the exam centre at least one hour early for proper security checks.
