The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is set to introduce a new undergraduate engineering programme – BTech in Metrology – from the upcoming academic session. Unlike most other programmes at IP University, which use IPU Common Entrance Test (IPUCET) scores for admission, this new programme will admit students only through JEE Main scores.
The university is collaborating with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to launch this course, making GGSIPU the first university in India outside a few IITs to offer this specialised programme. Officials have highlighted that metrology is the backbone of engineering, and the programme will integrate Indian Knowledge Systems with modern engineering advancements. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Mahesh Verma, urged students to explore this field, noting its importance in industrial growth and innovation.
