IP University has launched the 8th cycle of its “Society and Media” course on SWAYAM. The programme has already recorded over 1,700 enrolments from learners across India.

IP University Launches SWAYAM Course, 1700+ Students Enrol as Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University introduces the eighth cycle of its postgraduate online course “Society and Media”. The course is available on the Ministry of Education’s SWAYAM platform. The programme carries four academic credits and has attracted over 1,700 learners from across the country in the current cycle.

 

IP University Society and Media Course on SWAYAM Platform

The “Society and Media” course was first introduced in 2019 and marked a significant step in online postgraduate education. It was the first PG-level MOOC offered by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

 

Since its launch, the course has successfully completed seven cycles and reached more than 10,000 learners nationwide. The current cycle continues to see strong participation from students and professionals interested in media studies.

 

SWAYAM PG Course Structure and Key Topics Covered

The programme is designed as a comprehensive 15-week course with multiple modules covering key aspects of media and society. The course structure includes the following highlights:

  • Duration: 15 weeks
  • Total Modules: Around 40 modules
  • Academic Credits: 4 credits

The course covers important topics such as:

  • Media representation
  • Social stereotyping
  • Digital participation
  • Media literacy
  • Media and social change

It also explores how media interacts with issues like caste, class, gender, religion, and regional identities.

 

IP University Online Course Developed with Expert Inputs

The content of the course has been developed with contributions from faculty members and experts from leading institutions across India.

  • Indira Gandhi National Open University
  • Indian Institute of Mass Communication
