The Indian Navy will soon invite applications for Agniveer SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit) and MR (Matric Recruit) posts under the Agnipath scheme. The recruitment provides an opportunity for eligible candidates to join the Navy as sailors for a four-year service period. Candidates interested in joining the defence forces can apply online through the official website joinindiannavy.gov.in once the application portal becomes active.

 

Indian Navy Agniveer SSR, MR Recruitment 2026: Key Details

The recruitment is conducted for various sailor posts under the Agniveer scheme, which allows young candidates to serve in the armed forces for a fixed tenure.

 

Indian Navy Eligibility Criteria

 

Agniveer SSR

Candidates applying for the SSR post must meet the following requirements:

  • Passed Class 12 (10+2) with Mathematics and Physics and at least one subject from Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science from a recognised board.

 

Agniveer MR

For MR (Matric Recruit) posts:

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board.

 

Age Limit

Candidates generally need to be between 17½ and 21 years of age at the time of enrolment

 

Indian Navy Application Fees

The application process requires candidates to pay a nominal examination fee, which is generally around ₹60 for MR recruitment, though the exact fee may vary depending on the notification and category.

 

Indian Navy Selection Process

The recruitment process for Agniveer SSR and MR includes several stages:

  1. INET Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
  3. Written examination and medical test
  4. Document verification

Candidates who successfully clear all stages are shortlisted for training in the Indian Navy.

 

Indian Navy Training and Service

Selected candidates will undergo basic training at INS Chilka, followed by professional training in their respective trades Under the Agnipath scheme, Agniveers serve for four years, after which a limited percentage may be selected for permanent service in the armed forces.
