India Post GDS 2026 Merit List Released — Document Verification Started

The India Post Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) 2026 first merit list has been published for the GDS, BPM, and ABPM vacancies under the Schedule-1, January 2026 recruitment cycle. Shortlisted applicants whose registration numbers appear in the circle‑wise merit list PDFs must now proceed with the next stage of the selection process — document verification (DV) — on or before 23 March 2026.

How to Check the India Post GDS 1st Merit List 2026?

Candidates can download the circle‑wise merit list PDFs to confirm their selection status:

  • Visit the official India Post recruitment portal or the engagement portal link provided for GDS Online Engagement.
  • Select the relevant postal circle or state.
  • Click on the 1st Merit List / Shortlisted Candidates PDF.
  • Search for your registration number or name in the downloaded list.

The merit lists include shortlisted applicants for the 28,636 vacancies based on Class 10 marks without a written test, as per recruitment rules

Document Verification Schedule and Last Date

Candidates whose names appear in the 1st merit list must report for document verification on or before 23 March 2026. This process is mandatory for final engagement and any failure to complete it by the deadline may result in the cancellation of provisional selection.

Essential Documents for Verification

Shortlisted candidates should carry original documents along with two sets of self‑attested copies. Key documents typically include:

  • Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate
  • Identity proof (e.g., Aadhaar Card, Voter ID)
  • Date of birth proof
  • Caste, EWS or PwBD certificate (if applicable)
  • Residence/domicile certificate
  • Any other certificates specified in the official shortlisting notice

Candidates must ensure all papers are accurate and complete, as discrepancies during DV can lead to disqualification

What Happens After Document Verification?

Upon successful verification of documents by the concerned Divisional/Unit Head of the postal circle:

  • Final engagement procedures will be initiated.
  • Candidates may receive further instructions or appointment letters as per norms.
  • In case of vacancies left after this stage, subsequent merit lists may be issued for other shortlisted applicants.

Candidates are advised to regularly check official notifications and communication (email/SMS) from India Post for any updates or changes to the DV schedule and requirements.
