The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee held its Convocation 2025 on September 5, conferring 2,614 degrees across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The ceremony highlighted a steady rise in female participation, particularly in doctoral research, where the number of women PhD awardees has tripled in two years.

Guests and Convocation Address
The convocation was graced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology, as the Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, IAS (Retd.), attended as Guest of Honour. Dr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Governors, presided over the ceremony, while Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, joined as Chief Guest for the award ceremony in the second session.
Presenting the annual report, Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, highlighted the institute’s achievements, including a QS World Ranking of 339 and its top NIRF rank in Architecture & Planning for the fourth consecutive year. He emphasised IIT Roorkee’s mission to advance sustainability, clean energy, defence, and disaster resilience, stressing the role of graduates in building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
